LED Segment Display Module
Numitron Encapsulation Form
The packaging process of LED numeric tubes generally involves integrating LED chips onto specific carriers, followed by a series of physical and chemical treatments to form the final digital display device.
1. Die Bonding: Mounting the LED chip onto the substrate.
2. Wire Bonding: Connecting the electrodes of the LED chip to the pins of the substrate using fine gold wires to form a circuit.
3. Dispensing / Potting: Filling the mold cavity with liquid epoxy or silicone. This serves both to protect the chip and wire bonds, and to control the light refraction and diffusion angle through the shape of the lens (e.g., round or flat head).
4. Curing: Heating the product in an oven to harden the epoxy.
5. Trimming & Forming: Cutting the finished units from the lead frame and bending the pins for easy insertion during PCB assembly.
6. Testing & Bin Sorting: Testing electrical parameters (voltage, brightness, wavelength) and sorting the LEDs into different grades to ensure consistency.
7. Packaging: Anti-static packaging for shipment.
